Three reasons Hamish is excited about joining ClearPoint

We’re excited to welcome our new CEO Hamish Rumbold into the ClearPoint whanau this week. As the former Group General Manager of Digital Customer Products & Retailing for Air New Zealand, Hamish brings valuable experience and insights to our team. After a decent break Hamish is feeling fresh and keen to get amongst it, so I asked him what he’s most looking forward to in his new role…

“Where to start? There are so many things I’m looking forward to… here’s my top three:


1. Working alongside some of NZ’s best tech talent
One of the things I’m really looking forward to is working alongside the talented team here in ClearPoint. Over the past 10 years, ClearPoint has attracted a team of world-leading technology experts, all from really diverse backgrounds – 30 plus countries I believe, which I love.
He aha te mea nui o te ao. He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. As this Maori proverb goes, the most important thing is people. For me that’s our people and our clients’ people.

2. Joining a well-respected and trusted company, who know how to work hard and have fun
I believe there’s a saying at ClearPoint “Great teams always ship,” which means they take pride in “getting things done.” I can tell you that from the outside, this approach has earned ClearPoint a solid reputation for delivering incredible products and services across multiple industries in New Zealand and Australia.

It’s clear the ClearPoint team thrives on sharing key learnings, experiences and skills. Everyone is genuinely passionate about creating innovative technology solutions for clients which really make a difference. I’m a big fan of these values and am looking forward to immersing myself in this environment.

Whilst everyone works really hard, it’s well known that the ClearPoint team has a lot of fun along the way. With regular team, social and family events – like the Halloween morning tea or beer tasting event recently – there’s no shortage of good times at ClearPoint and I’m looking forward to getting to know our people in both a work and social environment.

3. The opportunity to make a real difference in our jobs
There is a tsunami of commercial, consumer, and social change on the horizon – and it’s all driven by tech. With some of the smartest people in NZ and Australia in our team, we have a huge responsibility, and opportunity, to define how we continue to make a real impact on our clients and our communities.

In my view, everyone in ClearPoint has the opportunity to make a real impact in several ways:

  • On our clients (who are all very important NZ and Australian businesses and are critical to the country’s success) by helping them thrive and compete on a world stage
  • On consumers by designing and shipping work that positively impacts the end user’s experience
  • In our communities by leading the conversation and debate on how tech can be used to improve both people’s lives and the environment

For me, that’s a pretty cool purpose to come to work every day… and I can’t wait to get into it.
