Waitangi’s beautiful coastal setting is a great place to relax and recharge, especially when you get to mingle and share experiences with 150+ fellow entrepreneurs. That was the scene at the Morgo conference I attended recently, where leaders building global businesses from New Zealand come to connect, learn and share.
Morgo shines a spotlight on the innovation that New Zealand is bringing to the world. Listening to Kiwi entrepreneurs share their experiences of exporting their products, services and business models globally is always inspiring. A few stories in particular resonated with me as ClearPoint expands and strives to emulate their success on the world stage. Though targeted at different markets, these businesses share one thing in common: innovation.
Tim Norton, founder and CEO of 90 seconds, has developed a highly scalable cloud technology platform to produce videos anywhere in the world. The entire video production process from purchase to publish is done online through a global network of designers, project managers, and video editors. Much of the company’s global success can be attributed to the innovative software systems and business processes it has established, which can be easily adapted and rolled out into international markets.
Foster Moore is a global company specialising in implementing electronic registry solutions. Co-founder Joel Foster and his partner used their 20 years’ experience in registry design and development in New Zealand to develop a dedicated registry solution that can be adapted to meet the specific needs of individual jurisdictions around the world. The company is now running projects in New Zealand, South Pacific, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America.
Another inspiring speaker was Dan Radcliffe, 2014 EY Entrepreneur of the Year and founder of International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ), the world’s leading volunteer travel company. IVHQ harnesses the power of people wanting to do good to create a social enterprise that provides affordable, safe and responsible volunteer programs for international volunteers. IVHQ’s innovative approach to volunteering is based on local community involvement, affordability and transparency. This has enabled the small New Plymouth-based organisation to have a global impact, working in over 30 countries and placing thousands of volunteers every year.
ClearPoint shares the same focus on innovation for our clients. Like Foster Moore and 90 seconds, we’re using our technical know-how and years of expertise to develop cloud-based software solutions that are reliable, scalable and deliver business outcomes that showcase our clients as innovators. We’ve used our financial services expertise to build www.AlphaCertLabs.com a data management solution for the investment management sector. As our business expands and we introduce AlphaCert to the global investment management sector, it’s inspiring to learn from other New Zealand technology companies who have navigated their way to success abroad.
Thanks to Jenny Morel and Morgo for another fantastic conference…looking forward to next year!
